UPGRADING FROM VERSION 2008 or EARLIER

Are your computers ready for the upgrade?
To use Printer's Plan, your computers must have Windows 7, Vista, XP, Server 2008, or Server 2003.

BEFORE INSTALLING THE UPGRADE

• Print some of the default settings from your current database.
  The new version will change some of your default settings.
  Click here to learn which settings you need to print from your current database. You will use this information to update your settings after installing the upgrade.
• Compact database.
  In version 2008, click the Home tab, then click About / My Database / Compact.
  In version 2007 or earlier, click the File menu, then click Compact.
  If you receive an error message, please stop and call us.
• Backup the Entire Printer's Plan folder.
  Copy the contents of the Printer's Plan folder on your server to a new folder. You may rename the new folder. Example: PP2008-Final Backup.
• Delete the Evaluation Version.
  Delete the Evaluation folder from computer(s) on which you have previously installed the Printer's Plan Evaluation version. Any data you have entered in the Evaluation version will be lost.
• This step depends on your current Printer's Plan version.
  If you are upgrading from Version 2008, skip this step.
  If you are upgrading from Version 2007 or earlier, you must install Microsoft Libraries on each computer that runs Printer's Plan. Click here to download Microsoft Libraries (4.1 MB). Open the downloaded file from each workstation to install the libraries.

INSTALLING THE UPGRADE

You must install the upgrade:

   first on the server,
   then in the Printer’s Plan folder on each workstation.

• Click here to download the Setup program (1.3 MB).
  Save the file Setup2011.exe to your computer.
• Install the new version on your server (where PlanData.mdb is located).
  Double-click the Setup2011.exe file to open the Setup program. The Setup program will ask you to enter your upgrade code. You will find the code in the upgrade email you received from us.
• Install the new version on workstations.
  You must upgrade all workstations.

AFTER INSTALLING THE UPGRADE

• Start Printer's Plan 2011.
  Start Printer's Plan 2011 by using the same shortcut you were using before. Printer’s Plan will ask you to convert your database. The conversion may take several minutes, depending on the size of your database and the speed of your computer. Do not use your computer during the conversion.
• Review and update settings.
  Before you start using Printer's Plan, you must complete the steps in the following document.
